I visited Five Islands this morning to check out how things were going at one of my favorite spots. It was so quiet, not a soul around other than Eric Storm, a photographer friend. I looked all around for something to photograph with the sunrise, and found this nice little arrangement of gear on the end of the wharf. I liked how the orange on the buoys reflects the orange colors in the sky. I paid close attention to the position of the lobster boat in the background and framed it with my foreground. You can also make out Hendricks Head Lighthouse across the bay on Southport Island.
This moment is emblematic of so many of us in Maine right now, our energies being put into gearing up and preparing for the busy upcoming season. I know that’s true for me!
